Pregnancy & Postpartum

Pregnancy and motherhood can be so different from what you imagined. You may love your child deeply and still feel anxious, overwhelmed, sad, or unlike yourself.

Perhaps you’re struggling with thoughts you can’t quiet, adjusting to changes in your relationships or identity, or wondering why something you wanted so much feels so difficult.

Whatever your experience, you deserve care that takes your emotional well-being seriously.

When motherhood feels harder than expected

You feel anxious, exhausted, or overwhelmed.

You find yourself worrying constantly or bracing for something to go wrong.

You have unwanted intrusive thoughts that are difficult to quiet.

You struggle to concentrate, remember things, or make decisions.

You are never really alone yet often feel lonely.

You feel irritable, angry, or resentful, then guilty for feeling that way.

You are getting through the day, but it’s taking nearly everything to hold it together.

You wonder whether you will ever feel like yourself again.

How counseling can help

You don't have to navigate the emotional challenges of pregnancy or motherhood on your own. Counseling offers a place to make sense of what you're experiencing, find relief from overwhelming thoughts and feelings, and begin to feel more like yourself again.

With advanced training and certification in perinatal mental health, I provide specialized support for women experiencing anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, difficult birth experiences, and the many emotional changes that can accompany this season of life.

My approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, drawing on evidence-based therapies including Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Together, we'll find an approach that fits your needs and what matters most to you.

What this work looks like

Counseling is about more than managing symptoms. It's also about making room for your own well-being, finding your footing through change, and feeling more confident in yourself. Together, we can work toward:

Understanding your feelings

Making sense of difficult emotions, conflicting expectations, and the changes you’re experiencing

Finding relief from overwhelm

Developing practical ways to manage worry, intrusive thoughts, and the pressures of everyday life

Moving forward with confidence

Learning to trust yourself and navigate this season with more clarity and self-compassion

Feeling more like yourself

Making room for your own needs, values, and identity alongside motherhood

Becoming a mother changes more than you might expect.

What is matrescence?

Matrescence is the developmental transition into motherhood, encompassing physical, emotional, psychological, and social changes. Much like adolescence, it can profoundly affect your identity, relationships, and sense of self.

Why does it matter?

Understanding matrescence can help you make sense of seemingly contradictory feelings. You can love your child and miss parts of your former life. You can feel grateful and overwhelmed. These changes deserve understanding, while persistent distress may also call for specialized support.

There’s room for you here, too.

When you're ready, I'd love to hear what brings you here and explore how counseling might help.
